A Roadside Marketing strategy, that no MBA teaches you!
.
Recently I was driving my bike on the busy roads of Chennai, and I just come across a roadside helmet and bike accessory shop where I saw a strange unusual statement that shook me up!
.
“Buy helmet for Rs.1000/- or pay the Fine for Rs.2000/- you choose?
Buy one helmet and SAVE Rs.1000/- now!
.
Exactly in 300 meters, I’ve encountered traffic police sword blocking vehicles and charging for those who are ignorant on wearing a helmet and not following the traffic rules.
.
Some people are turning their vehicles before crossing the checkpoint and returning to the shopkeeper and buying the helmets like there is no time to bargain.
.
I was pretty obsessed by the shopkeeper’s brilliant communication strategy this guy just took an exceptional move on keeping his shop near a place where there is already a huge demand and burning need!
.
He just avoided communicating in a way what the mind is hearing often and still maintaining an ignorant signal ” Wear helmet and save life” blah! blah!
.
Rather,
.
He just communicated in a way that paints a negative mental picture that what a person will lose rapidly on the spot (paying money as fine) and applied “save money and look smart” emotional trigger and selling a valuable product. (helmet in this case)
.
Here is the biggest takeaway,
.
If your product/service has huge demand and still if it is not selling, a simple reason would be, prospects are not aware of what the instant pleasure they receive and, what the pain that they can avoid.
.
Unless you communicate it properly they didn’t realize the need of your product.
